How to Apply

If you believe your organization’s work fits our current grantmaking priorities, please submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) to angie@mcgrathfamilyfoundation.org or christian@mcgrathfamilyfoundation.org for review. If you receive approval, you may then submit a full proposal. A decision will be given within 30-45 days after receipt.

Submitting a Letter of Inquiry

The first step in the McGrath Family Foundation application process is to submit a short Letter of Inquiry. Letters are reviewed on a continuous basis, and may be submitted at any time during the year. All LOIs are reviewed to determine if they fall within the the Foundation guidelines. Once a LOI is reviewed, organizations will either be declined or asked to submit a full proposal. The Foundation does not accept unsolicited grant proposals and all organizations must first complete the LOI process.

LOI Guidelines
The Foundation requests that an organization send a LOI that is no longer than three pages. The LOI should
include the following information:

  • A brief background on your organization, including a mission statement, history of your organization, the size of staff, the population and geographic region served, and the type of services provided.

  • A brief description of the activities for which you are requesting support, including the need/issues that will be addressed, an outline of objectives, anticipated outcomes, and history of performance.

  • The total amount of funding needed and the amount you intend to request from the Foundation (specify if you are requesting program support or general operating support). Please note, first time grant requests should not exceed $20,000.

  • Contact information including an email address.

Completed LOIs may be emailed to angie@mcgrathfamilyfoundation.org

Eligibility

In general, the Foundation does not make grants to individuals, governmental entities, or religious organizations. All organizations requesting grants must be a registered 501(c)(3) and have been in existence for more than a year.
